Thermal Oxidizer Availability Report
An unused John Zink Thermal Oxidizer System built in 1994 has been surplused by a major chemical company.
This is a complete system, including burner, furnace, air blower and control system. Also available are two gas / liquid separator systems (2500 cfm capacity) and four identical waste air blowers (2500 cfm at 10" water column each.)
System Description
- Furnace 40" OD refractory lined carbon steel. Weight 8200 lb. Effective volume 186 cubic feet (design) or 247 cubic feet (max).
- Vertical orientation, "up fired" layout. Flue gas outlet at 33 elevation. Look at Elevation View Drawing.
- Forced draft John Zink natural gas / waste gas burner with spark ignited pilot.
- Connections include flame scanner mount, sight port, thermowells (2), sample ports (2) and flanged burner mount.
- Refractory lining is primarily ceramic fiber blanket on Inconel anchors, with castable refractory on 310 stainless steel anchors in the burner area. Designed for 1450oF operation with high temperature trip at 1600oF.
- Detachable 304 stainless steel rain cap above flue gas outlet.
- Rack mounted flame safety / temperature control system with NEMA 4 local panel. Area classification: unclassified. Designed per IRI guide lines. Look at Instrument Diagram.
- Fuel gas controls and burner designed for up to 9,000,000 btu/hr release.
- Centrifugal combustion air blower and connecting duct supplies 2000 CFM to burner.
Operating Characteristics
- System can incinerate up to 4500 cfm of contaminated air at 1450oF with 8,000,000 btu/hr fuel gas release and 0.65 - 0.85 second residence time.
- Alternately, 6 gpm of contaminated water may be atomized into the furnace at 1450oF with 9,000,000 btu/hr fuel gas and 0.93 - 1.24 second residence time.
- Modifications can be made to increase operating temperature, depending on the particular hydrocarbons to be destroyed.
Wastes Handled
- Contaminated air - up to 4500 cfm.
- Contaminated water - up to 6 gpm (requires addition of water pump, valves and atomizing guns.)
- High BTU waste gas or solvent - up to 9,000,000 btu/hr heat release.
Availability
This system is available immediately. A thorough check of all control functions and inspection for refractory condition will be conducted prior to shipment (allow 1 - 2 weeks.) These systems can be modified to handle any particular waste or combination of wastes, as described above (allow 3 to 5 weeks.)
